Devon libraries local studies website 1999-2005

MAIN SECTIONS

This is a recovered archive of a significant website which disappeared from the open web when Devon County Council withdrew its hosting in 2015. At this time responsibility for local studies libraries in Devon was transferred from Devon County Council to the South West Heritage Trust. The Westcountry Studies Library had previously been moved from its site in central Exeter adjacent to Exeter Library to the Devon Heritage Centre on Sowton Trading Estate. While SWHT's catalogue lists some 800 web pages it does not display their contents. The arrangement of this archive is based on the layout of the home page on the main date of archiving (6 February 2005) but includes additional pages that were not archived at that date. In all some 5,000 pages were retrieved but not all of them are yet listed here. It is hoped to improve and complete this listing and indicate where the content has been replaced or updated. In due course appropriate pages will be included on the Devon bibliography website.
