This listing of the volumes presented to the Bodleian Library by the Dean and Chapter of Exeter Cathedral in 1602 is based on the entries in the register of manuscripts received by the Bodleian and is arranged in the order listed in that register. Other listings, such as that printed by Oliver in his Lives of the bishops of Exeter, are less complete and suggest that only about 80 volumes were donated. The actual figure is closer to 100. Further information has been added from the Summary Catalogue of manuscripts and links have been given to page images digitised from colour slides by the Bodleian Library. Identifications in the inventories of 1072, 1327 and 1506 are often tentative only. To convert the valuations in the 1327 inventory to 2018 values prices should be multiplied by a factor of around 6,000 - thus an item valued at £1 0 0 (one pound) would be worth in the region of £6,000 and an item valued at £0 1 0 (one shilling) perhaps £300. This is based on a comparison of craftsmen's wages but with so many variables over the centuries it is impossible to reach a meaningful comparison.
